Prof. S.J. Xu was born in Hebei Province in 1965. He received his PhD degree in electronic engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1993. Currently, he is a professor with tenure in Department of Physics, The University of Hong Kong. Prof. Xu has published more than 130 articles with >2700 SCI citation times in prestigious international journals in the fields of applied physics and materials science. The current H-index is 26. In addition to the scientific issues in the fields of semiconductor optoelectronic physics and devices, Prof. Xu is also interested in issues of China history, traditional culture as well as relations of modern China with other major countries. He attempts to analyze and study these issues associated with China’s politics, culture and education in a natural scientist’s view. Prof. Xu already wrote a few articles about these issues in Chinese and published several in pen name of “唐河”, for example, one article discussing internalization of Chinese RMB.
